Listed below are a few of my favorite case studies
Deifa the Terrier Deifa is a very active, affective and rather hyper small terrier (and a little spoilt - according to his companion). Deifa was a rescue dog and as such his companion Nikki (who is the Field Section Manager at Woodgreen Animal Shelter) is only too aware of the extra care some of these animals needs. He is very hyper active and had a problem with his cruciate ligament in his right hind leg. He had an operation to repair it and was really struggling to keep still and calm. I gave him about one hour of Reiki and according to Nikki this was the first time he actually slept quietly on the journey from work and all evening. The next morning she visited her mother (who often cares for Deifa whilst Nikki is at work) and she could not believe how calm this dog was who was sitting on her sofa. She commented that he was a changed dog.
His leg then healed very quickly as he was much calmer. Within 12 months he had another repair on his left leg, again Reiki helped to keep him calm during recovery. Since then I have given Deifa a “top up” on a couple of occasions, to help keep him calm. Deifa has been diagnosed with arthritis since, in both hind legs, giving Reiki helps to relax him and after a session there is a noticeable change in the way he walks.
Nikki has since gone on to complete a Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 course and so is able to give Reiki to both herself and her companions. Nikki says “Reiki has changed my life, I am much more confident and have a much closer relationship with my wonderful Deifa. I would highly recommend taking a course in Reiki - it is one of the best things I have done”. “It also has helped me relate to the animals I work with on a closer level as it helps me to understand what they go through on more of an emotional level.” Nikki Pearson, Field Section Manager – Woodgreen Animal Shelter
Archie the Siamese Archie is a very beautiful Siamese cat and lives with his two sisters, Fleur and Lottie, in the loving home of Jos and Chris Tompkins. He has rather a spoilt life and is definitely the king of the manor. He bonds especially well with Chris being that they are the only two males in the household!. On occasions Chris is away on business and Archie seems to miss him greatly and on one such occasion both Jos and Chris had been away on holiday for a couple of weeks, followed with Chris being away for a couple of weeks. When they arrived back initially from their holiday, Archie had been biting his fur leaving large sore spots on his body, he was very agitated and nervous. This behaviour only seemed to get worse when Chris was away, so Jos telephoned me and asked me to see if I could help in any way. I went to see Archie and spent about an hour with him giving him Reiki. That night Archie was very tired but seemed to return to his old habit pattern of sleeping on the bed and the next day when Chris returned he thought he had his old “mate” back and Archie was so relaxed just like he had been when they had first brought him home. Over the next week his sore skin started to heal and the fur started to grow back. Jos was very pleased and said “It really impressed me how Archie’s whole manner changed and he is now so calm, I am going on a course in a month’s time so I can learn Reiki and be able to give this to my beautiful animals” Jos Tompkins – Manager, Cariad Well Being Centre
